Assessment
A detailed history, then a thorough examination of movement, strength and the affected area. You leave knowing what is wrong, why it happened, and exactly what we are going to do about it.
Make sure the strength and function you regain match the result of your operation, with physiotherapist Sam Harvey working to your surgeon's protocol to guide each phase of recovery across our three London clinics, protecting the repair early and rebuilding the movement, strength and confidence you need to return to the activities that matter.
The assessment covers a detailed history and a thorough examination of movement, strength and the affected area. We explain what we find and agree a working diagnosis and plan you understand before you leave.
You go home with a written summary and a home-exercise programme built around your diagnosis and goals, so progress continues between visits.
We rehabilitate after procedures like ACL reconstruction, joint replacement and rotator-cuff repair, so the result of your operation is matched by the function you regain.
Working to your surgeon's protocol, early sessions restore movement while safeguarding the healing tissue, so nothing is rushed or put at risk.
Later phases progressively rebuild the strength, control and capacity your daily life or sport demands, so you regain more than just range of movement.
Every stage is mapped toward your own goals, whether that is walking without a limp, lifting your children or getting back to sport.
We track progress objectively, use strength testing where it helps, and communicate with your surgical team so your loading stays safe at every stage.
You can self-refer and book directly: no GP letter needed, and every new patient can start with a free 15-minute consultation call. The same fees apply across our Soho, Liverpool Street and Marylebone clinics.
Everything starts with finding the cause. Whether the goal is a marathon start line or a week at your desk without pain, we treat what is driving the problem, then build the strength that keeps it fixed.

Hands-on manual therapy combined with a progressive, tailored exercise programme. Sports massage, dry needling, shockwave or Reformer Pilates are added where they help your specific problem.
Coached, progressive strength work restores the load tolerance your body lost, paced to where you start. This is the stage that decides whether the fix lasts.
Each follow-up reassesses you against your baseline, with VALD testing where useful, so your return to work, sport or training rests on measured readiness. Discharge happens by mutual agreement when you can manage independently.
From pain to performance. Pain relief that lasts is not enough on its own: we rebuild the strength behind the pain so it stays gone.

FAQ
It depends on the procedure and your surgeon's protocol: some rehabilitation begins within days, others a few weeks later. We work to the timeline your surgeon sets and progress each phase as healing allows. Bring your operation notes and any post-op instructions to your first visit, and we will start at the correct, safe phase for your recovery.
We rehabilitate common orthopaedic procedures including ACL and other knee-ligament reconstructions, hip and knee replacements, rotator-cuff and shoulder repairs, and arthroscopic surgery. Each follows the surgeon's protocol for that operation. If your procedure is less common, bring your post-op instructions and we will build a plan around them, liaising with your surgical team where it helps.
Yes. Surgeon-led protocols set the safe boundaries for each healing phase, so we follow them closely and progress your loading within them. Where it helps your recovery, we will communicate with your surgical team about milestones and any concerns. This keeps your rehabilitation evidence-based and within the limits your operation requires at every stage.
Timelines vary widely by procedure: a few weeks for some, several months for major reconstructions like ACL surgery or joint replacement. Rather than fixing a date, we progress you through phases against strength and movement milestones. Consistency with your home exercises between sessions is the single biggest factor in how quickly and fully you recover.
No GP referral is needed: you can self-refer and book directly, and we offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your surgery first. Please bring your operation notes and any surgeon instructions so we start at the right phase. If you are using private insurance, check whether your provider requires a referral before booking.
