Assessment
A detailed history, then a thorough examination of movement, strength and the affected area. You leave knowing what is wrong, why it happened, and exactly what we are going to do about it.
Rebuild the deep core strength, control and confident movement that keep back and neck pain from returning, in sessions led by rehabilitation-trained instructor Ann Salmon across our London clinics and graded to your body, bridging hands-on physiotherapy and lasting conditioning so you move well long after the pain has settled.
The assessment covers a detailed history and a thorough examination of movement, strength and the affected area. We explain what we find and agree a working diagnosis and plan you understand before you leave.
You go home with a written summary and a home-exercise programme built around your diagnosis and goals, so progress continues between visits.
Graded work on the Reformer trains the deep stabilising muscles that support your spine and pelvis, so everyday movement feels steadier and more controlled.
Staying active and building strength is what keeps recurring back and neck pain at bay, and structured Reformer work is a safe, progressive way to do exactly that.
Once hands-on physiotherapy has settled the acute phase, Reformer Pilates rebuilds strength and stability so your recovery holds up under real-life demands.
Ann coaches precise, controlled movement first, so you build strength on solid foundations rather than reinforcing the patterns that caused the problem.
The adjustable springs let Ann support a movement or challenge it, so every exercise meets you where you are and builds from there.
You can self-refer and book directly: no GP letter needed, and every new patient can start with a free 15-minute consultation call. The same fees apply across our Soho, Liverpool Street and Marylebone clinics.
Everything starts with finding the cause. Whether the goal is a marathon start line or a week at your desk without pain, we treat what is driving the problem, then build the strength that keeps it fixed.

Hands-on manual therapy combined with a progressive, tailored exercise programme. Sports massage, dry needling, shockwave or Reformer Pilates are added where they help your specific problem.
Coached, progressive strength work restores the load tolerance your body lost, paced to where you start. This is the stage that decides whether the fix lasts.
Each follow-up reassesses you against your baseline, with VALD testing where useful, so your return to work, sport or training rests on measured readiness. Discharge happens by mutual agreement when you can manage independently.
From pain to performance. Pain relief that lasts is not enough on its own: we rebuild the strength behind the pain so it stays gone.

FAQ
Reformer Pilates with Ann is rehabilitation-based and individualised. She works from a movement screen, or your physiotherapy findings, and tailors every exercise to how your body moves and your goals. A general studio class follows a set routine for a mixed group. For people recovering from injury or long-standing pain, the tailored approach is safer and more targeted.
It can support recovery and recurrence prevention as exercise, not as treatment of disease. NICE guidance and current physiotherapy best practice favour staying active and building strength over rest for back pain. Reformer Pilates rebuilds core control and stability while grading load safely, and is usually best started once acute symptoms have settled.
Not always. If you are progressing from physiotherapy with us, Ann works directly from your physiotherapist's findings. New clients begin with a movement screen so the programme suits your body. If you have a recent injury, recent surgery or new, undiagnosed pain, we may recommend a physiotherapy assessment first to confirm it is appropriate.
The Reformer is a sprung carriage you move against adjustable resistance, lying, sitting or standing. It suits beginners well because the springs can support a movement as easily as challenge it, letting Ann grade each exercise to your exact level. No previous Pilates experience is needed to start safely and confidently.
